It was an unusual day of racing in Columbus as weather completely reshaped the opening round of the 2026 SuperMotocross Playoffs. Qualifying was canceled earlier in the day, sending the riders straight into racing on a muddy and extremely difficult track. In the 250 class, Daxton Bennick won the opening moto after Cole Davies suffered a bike issue while leading, but Levi Kitchen stayed consistent with 2-2 scores and made a late pass in moto two to secure the overall victory. Davies bounced back to win the second moto, while Bennick finished third to take second overall. In the 450 class, Haiden Deegan put together a dominant day, winning both motos and earning the first premier-class overall victory of his career. Ken Roczen kept the pressure on with 2-2 finishes for second overall, while Jorge Prado rounded out the podium with 3-4 scores. Between the canceled qualifying sessions, deep mud and constantly changing track conditions, Columbus delivered a wild start to the 2026 SMX Playoffs.
