Presented by FXR Racing:  Washougal qualifying produced a different look at the top of the 450 class, with Haiden Deegan holding onto the fastest lap of the morning ahead of Garrett Marchbanks. Jett Lawrence led the second session but ended up third overall, while Hunter Lawrence was only a fraction behind in fourth. Less than six-tenths of a second separated the top four, showing just how little there is between the riders expected to fight for the win. Jorge Prado completed the top five, followed by R.J. Hampshire and Eli Tomac, who qualified seventh in his second race back. Marchbanks was the surprise of the morning, but Deegan’s outright speed and the near-identical pace of the Lawrence brothers have set up an interesting opening moto. Washougal can reward confidence early and punish even a small mistake, so a clean start and the ability to adapt as the course changes could decide who controls the front.

450 OVERALL RACE RESULTS

These two have been going back and forth all season long. Hunter Lawrence on the left, Jett Lawrence on the right.

The second 450 moto opened with the top three riders in the championship running first, second and third, as Hunter Lawrence grabbed the early lead ahead of Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan. Jett made the first mistake when he ran off the track, but he rejoined without surrendering the position to Deegan. From there, the Lawrence brothers began edging away, building a gap of roughly six seconds over Deegan by the halfway point. Dylan Ferrandis held a strong fourth while Jorge Prado gradually closed from fifth. R.J. Hampshire also had a wild moment, hitting the ground hard before remounting almost immediately and reclaiming the positions he had lost on the same lap.

The race then took a controversial turn when officials issued Jett a penalty for leaving the track. He did not appear to gain a position and had already lost time in the incident, making the decision difficult to understand. The penalty meant that even if Jett crossed the finish line first, he would not be credited with the moto victory or the overall. Jett eventually caught and passed Hunter for the lead, but the advantage did not last, as another mistake sent him down and handed the position back to his brother. He recovered quickly and found himself under pressure from Deegan, who kept the fight alive through the closing laps. Jett held him off, regrouped, and eventually worked his way back to the front to take the checkered flag right behind Hunter. However, the penalty dropped him to third in the official results, handing Hunter the moto victory and the overall win.

Haiden Deegan has done the exact same ride three weeks in a row. 

R.J. Hampshire had a big get-off in the moto but would quickly remount and pass back into sixth.

450 RACE RESULTS MOTO ONE

Haiden Deegan did it again and went from last to fourth after going down on the start.

Haiden Deegan ripped the holeshot but threw it away in the second turn, going down and rejoining the race in 38th. That handed the lead to Jett Lawrence, with Hunter Lawrence moving into second and Jorge Prado settling into third. Deegan took a lap to regroup, then unleashed a charge that was almost hard to believe. Within six minutes of the 30-minute moto, he had already climbed back into the top ten, and only a few laps later he was up to fourth. The front four were operating at a completely different pace from the rest of the field, but by the time Deegan reached fourth, he was already roughly 20 seconds behind Prado. He could not close that gap before the finish, but the recovery was still one of the strongest rides of the day. Up front, Jett and Hunter stayed within a few seconds of each other for the entire moto, with Jett absorbing the pressure and holding off his brother to take the win.

Jorge Prado rode strong in third, and though he lost the tow of the leaders was able to maintain his distance in front of  Haiden Deegan.
