The cricketing world is buzzing with anticipation as the Asia Cup 2025 is set to kick off on September 9. Fans are eagerly waiting to see their favorite teams in action on UAE pitches, known for testing both batters and bowlers. As the countdown begins, several cricket experts have started analyzing team strengths, player combinations, and possible outcomes. Predictions are already flooding in regarding which teams might dominate the tournament and eventually reach the final.

Among those sharing their insights is former Indian opener Aakash Chopra, who is well known for his sharp cricketing analysis and bold predictions. Chopra has already voiced his opinion on which teams he believes will make it to the title clash.

Aakash Chopra reveals his picks for the finalists of Asia Cup 2025

Speaking about the competition, Chopra predicted that India will be one of the two teams to reach the final. According to him, the other likely finalist is Sri Lanka, currently led by Charith Asalanka. He highlighted that Sri Lanka can handle different match situations, with dependable batters, versatile all-rounders, and strong bowling options suited for UAE conditions. Unlike teams relying on star players, Sri Lanka’s strength lies in its collective effort, making them a consistent and dangerous side. Chopra added that if they qualify for the final, it should not be seen as a surprise, as an India vs Sri Lanka clash is a very realistic outcome.

“The other team against India in the final could be Sri Lanka. This team, captained by Charith Asalanka, has the ability to make it to the final. Sri Lanka has a team that can play in every situation. This is a good team and I will support this team to qualify. If Sri Lanka plays well and makes it to the final, I will not be surprised at all. The final match could be India vs Sri Lanka,” Chopra said.

Chopra on the most balanced team in the tournament

Chopra went on to praise the balance of the Sri Lankan side. Highlighting the team’s composition, he emphasized that Sri Lanka has covered every department. From Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka at the top, to Asalanka anchoring the middle order, the batting line-up has both stability and aggression.

He further pointed out that Sri Lanka boasts a wealth of all-rounders, providing depth in both batting and bowling. With multiple fast-bowling options and a spin department well-suited for UAE conditions, the team looks formidable.

“Sri Lanka has covered all the aspects. Whether it is Kusal Mendis with Pathun Nissanka or Charith Asalanka in the middle order. If we talk about all-rounders, you will see many all-rounders in this team. They have many options in fast bowling, so the spinner department can be very effective on UAE pitches. Therefore, this is a very balanced team. The specialty of this team is that Sri Lanka does not have many superstars, but this team has a mix of batsmen who can stay on the pitch in crisis and can also bat aggressively. There are aggressive batsmen in the Sri Lankan team, and there is also Kamindu Mendis,” Chopra noted.
