Arsenal are now on the verge of reaching a 'total agreement' to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United following David Ornstein's latest update.

The Gunners have been pushing for the last couple of weeks and are finally set to get their man. If there was a time for the Premier League champions to make such a statement, it is with the new campaign fast approaching.

Guimaraes, meanwhile, is set to compound Newcastle's misery. The Magpies have already lost Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Eddie Howe. The loss of the Brazilian, however, is arguably their biggest yet.

Declan Rice

Arsenal's midfield will always have Declan Rice's name first on the teamsheet. He's set to remain a key part of Mikel Arteta's side next season and could have the chance to play more as a classic No.6 alongside Guimaraes. With every year, his level seems to go up.

Bruno Guimaraes

As midfield partnerships go, Guimaraes and Rice is up there with the very best in Europe. It has everything both in and out of possession. Crucially, the new arrival will also add more goals to the side, which is where Arsenal struggle most.

The Gunners mean business and as chaos erupts with new managers spread all around English football, they're well placed for back-to-back glory.

As reported by the Athletic's Ornstein, Arsenal are closing in on a 'total agreement' to sign Guimaraes from Newcastle. The midfielder is awaiting one final green light to travel and complete his medical to officially join the North London club.

The deal has not come cheap, though. Reports are claiming that Arsenal are set to pay more than £60m to get their signing over the line. Whilst nothing is fully complete as of yet, all signs are pointing towards the Gunners for Guimaraes.

With Christos Tzolis already signed, Arsenal adding the midfielder that they were on the hunt for is a sign of intent.

Rumours regarding Vinicius Junior are also refusing to go away. If anyone believed that last season wasn't just the start of a new dawn in North London, then they were deeply mistaken.

With just a couple weeks until the action returns, it is the champions who look most ready to rule English football once again.
