After years of failed attempts of securing Premier League title glory, Arsenal have made huge strides on and off the pitch over recent months and are starting to look like an elite powerhouse.

The Gunners ended the previous campaign seven points clear at the summit, subsequently preventing Pep Guardiola from adding another title to his cabinet during his final year at Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta, a former member of his compatriot’s coaching team, worked his magic in England’s top-flight and ended the club’s 22-year wait for a league title.

Even off the pitch, the hierarchy have started to make big moves in the transfer market, which has seen the attacking department being subject to the biggest overhaul this window.

Why Arsenal need an elite-level attacker this summer

Despite winning the Premier League title last term, Arsenal’s lack of top-level attacking was evident, with Viktor Gyökeres the only player in the senior ranks who netted double figures in league goals.

The Swede undoubtedly popped up in key moments throughout the 2025/26 campaign, but there are still lingering questions around his ability to consistently provide the goods.

Such a question could also be asked about Bukayo Saka - not because of his ability, but his frequent injury issues, which only saw him score seven goals in England’s top-flight last term.

Other players like Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are capable of playing bit-part roles for the Gunners, but undoubtedly are not at the level to be regular starters at the Emirates.

Most of the sides who are considered Europe’s elite have the attacking talent to constantly provide the goods and allow them to compete domestically and continentally.

Manchester City have the presence of Erling Haaland, whilst Real Madrid can call upon Kylian Mbappe - not to mention back-to-back Champions League winners PSG, who have Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembélé in their ranks.

The ultimate goal for Arteta is for the Gunners to be a side who can compete with the aforementioned sides, but if they are to do that consistently, they will need their own world-class attacker in their ranks.

How Arsenal can land an elite attacker who's just like Vinícius Júnior

Despite their efforts to bolster the attacking department, midfielder Bruno Guimarães has emerged as a key target for the Gunners this summer.

The player himself has even stated his desire to move to the Emirates, which could see him link up with Brazilian international teammate Vinícius Júnior in North London.

Like with the Newcastle star, Arteta’s side have been in talks with the player’s representatives over a move to the Premier League - as he has just one year left on his deal at Real Madrid.

He’s no doubt the club’s number one attacking option this window, but other options are being considered - leading to Barcelona star Ferran Torres appearing on their radar.

It’s been reported by TEAMtalk that the Gunners have started to explore a deal for the Spanish international should they fail to land Vinicius in the weeks ahead.

They also claim the manager is a huge admirer of the 26-year-old, having worked with him at Manchester City, with PSG and Tottenham Hotspur also said to be keen.

Other reports have claimed that the LaLiga giants are prepared to sanction a transfer for the attacker, but would demand a fee in the region of £43m for his services.

The Real Madrid star will be the supporters’ number one option this window, but a deal for Torres could see Arteta’s men land a player extremely similar to the Brazilian.

The Spaniard has showcased he’s capable of operating in a left-wing or centre-forward role in recent months - something which Vinicius has also done at the Bernabeu throughout 2025/26.

Both prefer to operate off the left, subsequently cutting inside onto their favoured foot - often picking out the top corner and adding to their impressive goal tallies.

The aforementioned stars are also serial winners, with Torres already claiming nine major trophies in his career - including the World Cup, after netting the winner against Argentina last month.

His tally of 21 goals in 49 games for Barcelona last term was the best return of his professional career - subsequently matching the Madrid star for league goals and highlighting his elite-level status.

Torres even achieved a better shot-on-target rate and registered more shots on target per 90, which could even make him a more clinical option than the Brazilian in forward areas.

It’s evident that Arsenal are desperate for added attacking reinforcements this window, with the hierarchy working tirelessly to hand Arteta the calibre of player he craves for added success.

Vinicius would no doubt be a player who could add such talent to the club’s forward line, but there still remains a huge question mark over whether a deal can be agreed.

As a result, a deal for Torres could well be a distinct possibility, with the Gunners able to add a proven top-level attacker to their ranks for a bargain fee of just £43m.
