Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAzzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the Dallas Wings' season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on her right knee. The first overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft is set for the procedure in Connecticut early next week.
The surgery addresses lingering soreness in Fudd's knee. The former UConn star first felt discomfort during warmups ahead of Dallas' Aug. 7 game against the Golden State Valkyries.
Dallas held Fudd out of that contest "out of an abundance of caution," per a statement at the time. She then missed five additional games before Wednesday's season-ending announcement.
Fudd was seen in practice gear at the team facility Wednesday, working on weights on the side. Coach Jose Fernandez declined to offer further details when asked about her potential return.
"I don't have anything new to share," said Fernandez.
Fudd worked through her full shooting routine at apparent full speed ahead of a game against the Indiana Fever last Friday. Fernandez said at the time she appeared even further along in recovery than All-Star forward Jessica Shepard, who is managing an ankle injury.
This marks the latest in a series of knee setbacks for Fudd as she tore her right ACL and meniscus in college, sidelining her for most of the 2023-24 season, and previously suffered ACL and MCL tears in April 2019.
"The most important thing is her health in her return to play and her longevity," Fernandez said Aug. 12.
