Ben Simmons and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a one-year contract. The deal will be for the veteran minimum at $3.5 million. Simmons makes his NBA return after sitting out the 2025-26 season.

Sacramento recently waived-and-stretch DeMar DeRozan's dead money cap hit. That got the Kings the under the luxury tax, while leaving enough room to sign two players to veteran minimum deals. One of those deals will now go to the returning Simmons.

Simmons last played in the NBA during the 2024-25 season. He started that season with the Brooklyn Nets before joining the LA Clippers after a contract buyout. The 6-foot-10 guard/forward averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 51 total games between the Nets and Clippers.
