The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled left-handed reliever Adam Macko and will be active for Friday's game against the Texas Rangers. The 25-year-old has logged a 2-0 record and a 1.50 ERA with 12 strikeouts and a 1.08 WHIP.
As the first Canadian Slovakian-born player to pitch in the big leagues, Macko provides the Blue Jays with left-handed depth. He made his debut against the New York Yankees on May 18th and pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
With the Blue Jays' rotation struggling to provide durability, they have had to rely heavily on the bullpen. The only other southpaw the Blue Jays have in their pen is Mason Fluharty.
Overall, Macko provides the Blue Jays with another reliable lefty as well as roster flexibility. He also has solid strikeout potential with a 25% strikeout rate (12 strikeouts) and 4.2% walk rate across 12 games.

— Jamie Campbell (@SNETCampbell) June 26, 2026Why Macko deserves to remain on the MLB roster
Macko's presence offers a reliable arm that works well when faced with left-handed batters during high-leverage situations. While Macko put up a solid performance in the majors, he was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on June 9th to make room for Dylan Cease, who was activated off the 15-day IL.
Since his demotion, he has recorded a 4.91 ERA, giving up two runs on four hits, while striking out six across 3.2 innings. Macko will now get another opportunity to showcase why he deserves to stay in the big leagues with the pitching struggles the Blue Jays have been experiencing.
While the Blue Jays got another key starter back from the IL with Shane Bieber, he only went 3.2 innings, allowing four runs on 9 hits (three home runs) and struck out two against the Houston Astros on June 23rd. Kevin Gausman has also been roughed up in his last two starts, giving up five home runs.
