Trainer Brian “BoMac” McIntyre took Ryan Garcia’s reported Ozempic insult personally, repeatedly challenging him to deliver it face to face. An extended attack on Garcia’s ability followed.

The change in tone came when an interviewer told McIntyre that Garcia had suggested he take the medication. Moments earlier, BoMac had wished Garcia and Conor Benn well. Once the personal remark reached him, the pleasantries ended.

“I’m not going to get in going back and forth with a kid,” McIntyre said to Fight Hub TV. “Just tell him come say it to my face.”

He then spent much of the remaining conversation doing exactly what he had just rejected.

BoMac insisted he accepts criticism, but his response went well beyond defending his pick for Benn to win. He called Garcia “trash” and accused him of chasing attention through Terence Crawford’s name. He finished by asking someone to beat him.

Picking against a fighter is ordinary business for a trainer. Garcia’s reported response targeted McIntyre’s weight instead of his boxing judgment, which explains the personal turn. Still, dwelling on it gave a cheap insult more exposure. Garcia did not need to be present to become the main subject of an interview that also covered Lester Martinez’s performance and development.

Even a question about Martinez’s title ambitions failed to end it. BoMac returned to Garcia himself.

His confidence in Benn received far less explanation than his irritation. Asked about a recent photograph of Benn, McIntyre admitted he had not seen it and had only heard about possible weight struggles. That does not invalidate his prediction, but this interview offered little discussion of how Benn would handle Garcia’s speed or create openings for his own punches.

When the interviewer raised a potential Crawford fight, BoMac dismissed Garcia’s chances and told him to leave Crawford alone, then offered Tiger Johnson as an alternative opponent.

That invitation served his own stable. Calling Garcia “trash” did not stop McIntire from seeking a fight with him for Johnson. Garcia’s name still represented an opportunity, regardless of how little BoMac claimed to think of his boxing.

Defending Crawford’s ability was understandable. The repeated insults added nothing to that argument, and suggested Johnson did not answer Garcia’s interest in Crawford.

BoMac accused Garcia of seeking publicity, yet kept supplying it. By the end, his original pick was almost an afterthought.
