The Atlanta Hawks have reshaped their roster again, agreeing to acquire Dorian Finney-Smith from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Buddy Hield, Ryan Nembhard and cash.

Finney-Smith’s stay in Charlotte ends shortly after the Hornets acquired him from the Houston Rockets during the offseason in a deal that also brought them three future second-round picks.

The veteran forward is set to make $14.1 million during the 2026-27 season. His contract carries no guaranteed salary over the following two seasons, giving Atlanta additional flexibility beyond the upcoming campaign.

Finney-Smith played 37 games for Houston last season, averaging 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game. He connected on 27.0 percent of his attempts from three-point range.

His arrival gives Atlanta another defensive-minded wing after the Hawks also traded for Lu Dort earlier in the offseason, adding two established 3-and-D options to their rotation.

Charlotte, meanwhile, receives an experienced perimeter shooter in Hield. The 33-year-old is owed $9.7 million this season, while his 2027-28 salary is not guaranteed.

Hield split last season between the Hawks and Golden State Warriors, appearing in 51 games overall.

He averaged 7.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists across 16.1 minutes per game while shooting 34.9 percent from beyond the arc.
