Orgo-Life the new way to the future

It's starting to feel like 1946 again after the Boston Red Sox secured a 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night to extend their winning streak to 14 games, the second-longest in franchise history, and improve their overall record to 51-48.

Caleb Durbin plays hero in the eighth inning

After a back-and-forth game that saw several lead changes, Boston third baseman Caleb Durbin stepped to the plate with nobody on and two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Durbin went into Monday's game hitting .375 over his previous seven games, and that hot hitting continued with one swing. On a 1-0 count, Durbin launched a go-ahead, game-winning solo home run to give the Red Sox a 6-5 lead, a score that four outs later gave Boston its second-longest winning streak in franchise history.

Aroldis Chapman nearly blew the save

The 14th consecutive win for Boston didn't come without a bit of stress, as Baltimore had the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with two outs.

Tyler O'Neil stepped to the plate and smoked a 94mph line drive right at Red Sox shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng, who secured the catch and sent the Fenway Park crowd into a frenzy.

Going for 15 on Tuesday

Boston will have a chance to tie its franchise record on Tuesday with a 15th consecutive win. It'll be no easy task, though, as the Red Sox will be up against Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish, who is 6-9 with a 3.61 ERA this season.

There are three Red Sox players (Willson Contreras, Jaren Duran, Connor Wong) who have homers off Bradish in their careers, something Bradish will certainly remember when he takes the hill in hopes of preventing a history-making night at Fenway.
