The lead changed hands 13 times throughout the contest, with the United States holding the advantage for more than 25 minutes. Neither team led by more than six points at any stage, and Canada never trailed by more than five in the fourth quarter.
The decisive sequence came with USA ahead 65-62 and 1:27 remaining. Canadian forward Deng Ngor drained a three-pointer to tie the game, then converted a two-point basket at 1:01 to put Canada in front for good. Ngor scored all five of Canada's points in that closing stretch, while the United States managed just one field goal and committed two turnovers.
Point guard Javion Tyndale led Canada with 19 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals in 34 minutes. He converted 5-of-6 free throws and finished with a team-high plus-6 rating. Ngor added 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, hitting both of his three-point attempts. Maxime Meyer contributed defensively with 5 steals, 3 blocks and 6 rebounds.
Darius Wabbington paced the United States with 11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, also finishing at plus-6.
USA's strongest stretch came in the third quarter with an 8-0 run that turned a 35-40 deficit into a 48-40 lead, fueled by three-pointers from Colben Landrew and Taylen Kinney. Canada responded with a 7-0 run bridging the second and third quarters to briefly seize control.
