Speaking to TMZ Sports at the 17th Annual Amazon Kids Back-to-School Fashion Show in New York, Oakley dismissed any frustration surrounding James’ choice to sign with Philadelphia, saying the four-time NBA champion deserves credit for continuing to compete for titles late in his career while remaining a positive influence on younger generations.
Oakley also addressed Cleveland supporters who were disappointed after weeks of speculation linking James with a return to the Cavaliers. Rather than blaming James, he suggested fans should look at the current roster to understand why the veteran forward decided to continue his career elsewhere.
While some viewed James’ decision as another rejection of his hometown franchise, Oakley argued the Cavaliers should look inward, believing the organization, not the player, is responsible for missing out on a third reunion.
