Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe Monster Energy Kawasaki squad has confirmed the termination of their agreement with Chase Sexton after just one season. Sexton, who won twice in sixteen starts aboard the controversial KX450, has not confirmed his plans for the 2027 SMX World Championship.
While Kawasaki has not moved to confirm their 2027 lineup, it's known that Garrett Marchbanks will return for a second season and be positioned next to Malcolm Stewart. Stewart will be on a two-year contract that includes AMA Pro Motocross.
Sexton's departure is identical to how Jorge Prado walked away last season (confirmed on October 09th of 2025). The new KX450 – praised as "very different" by testers – could be the light at the end of the tunnel for Kawasaki, who have been clouded by controversy for the best part of two years.
Elsewhere, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki added Nate Thrasher to their five-man lineup for 2027. Drew Adams, Seth Hammaker, Levi Kitchen and Nick Romano will continue with the operation.
Kawasaki's official update on Sexton's exit can be found below.
