Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayDave Allen says he plans to call out Tyson Fury if he shocks Filip Hrgovic this Saturday night in Doncaster.
Allen (25-8-2, 20 KOs) faces Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KOs) in a 10 round fight at Keepmoat Stadium. The card streams live on DAZN. Hrgovic enters as a heavy favorite after suffering the first loss of his career against Daniel Dubois last year.
“I know the script,” Allen said to Sky Sports while discussing the fight.
“I’ve sold the tickets just so he can come over here and bang me out in a few rounds and call Itauma out.”
A victory over Hrgovic would easily be the biggest win of Allen’s career. It would also put him into the conversation for larger fights in Britain.
“If I beat Hrgovic, Tyson Fury is getting called out. One hundred percent.”
Allen then said he would still take the Fury fight even if he loses as long as he gives a good account of himself in front of his hometown crowd.
“Even if I lose to Hrgovic but put a good fight up, I want the Fury fight,” said Allen.
Allen, who is 34, has spent years being the heavyweight that promoters call when they need somebody willing to fight dangerous opponents. Saturday is another brutal test against a former Olympic bronze medalist who is still expected to move toward bigger fights if he wins.
Promoter Frank Warren confirmed Hrgovic could still move toward a fight with Moses Itauma later this year.
“Filip Hrgovic is going into the other man’s backyard, and he’s determined to show that he should be in this mix with a big, big fight,” said Warren.
Fury has not announced a summer return fight, but talk of a tune up continues as the heavyweight division moves toward a planned Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight later this year. Joshua is already scheduled to face Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh.
