Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte has been dominating at the plate. He recently won NL Player of the Week for the stretch of a strong performance from May 18-24.

He went 15-for-28 (.536) with a 1.563 OPS, three home runs and 12 RBI. He also recorded five multi-hit games and his first career walk-off home run against the San Francisco Giants on May 19.

Marte is riding a 10-game hitting streak entering the team's May 27 game against the Giants.

He demonstrated his power on May 26 when he crushed a 452-foot home run at Oracle Park that led to a 7-5 victory over the Giants. It was one of the longest home runs hit at the park since Shohei Ohtani smashed a 454-foot blast in September of 2025.

On the season he's batting .273 with nine home runs.

How Ketel Marte has turned his season around

Earlier this season, Marte was hitting the ball hard but directly at defenders. Now is those balls are generating hits as they find the gaps or go over the fence.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo made a change to the batting order lineup, placing Marte in the leadoff spot. This has helped him find his offensive groove.

Marte has shown exceptional plate discipline with a 15.2 % strikeout rate, good for the 86th percentile.

His expected batting average (xBA) of .313 ranks in the 98th percentile, illustrating that he's hitting the ball consistently with elite exit velocities. He currently sits in the 85th percentile with a 91.5 mph average exit velocity.

Following a .619 OPS across his first 41 games, Marte's offensive transformation has contributed to the Diamondbacks staying in the mix in a strong NL West.
