He was once one of the Dodgers’ most promising pitching prospects.

Now, he’s getting a shot in the majors again.

Bobby Miller is being added to the Dodgers’ big-league roster on Saturday, manager Dave Roberts said, coming off the injured list after being sidelined all year with a shoulder injury.

It will mark the first time since last May that Miller, the hard-throwing 27-year-old who has transitioned to a bullpen role for the club over the last year, has been on the active MLB roster.

Three years ago, Miller had a breakout rookie season for the Dodgers, going 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA in 22 starts (plus another in that year’s playoffs).

Entering 2024, he seemed set to be a key part of their rotation.

After a scoreless six-inning, 11-strikeout gem in his debut that year, however, Miller began to battle a shoulder injury that has derailed his career.

He had an 8.52 ERA in just 13 outings that season, then gave up seven runs in five innings over two outings last season, most of which he spent toiling in Triple-A.

Miller was slow-played this spring while dealing with his ongoing shoulder problem, then had a further setback early in the year with a back issue.

But a month ago, he began a minor-league rehab assignment with the team’s Triple-A Oklahoma City affiliate, posting a 3.86 ERA over 14 innings with 17 strikeouts in seven appearances.

Having been moved to a relief role in the minors midway through last year, Miller will give the Dodgers a fresh arm in the bullpen as they continue their three-game series against the Nationals at Dodger Stadium.

The corresponding move for his activation was fellow reliever Kyle Hurt.
