Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIf you add more overgrip, the racket becomes more head-light, but the overall weight also increases(2-3g).
If I use head heavy rackets like the AX99, 100zz:
Total weight is 87g/310bp
Adding more grip makes it 90g/300bp
Would this generally make the racket swing faster in situations like defense, drives, or will increased weight make it swing slower?
Anyone experienced adding weight to the handle and noticed a difference in maneuverability?
Question for your common sense: Why would adding weight to anything make it move faster when the same force is applied?
Balance point is a completely theoretical and in fact useless value with no effect on how the racket actually swings. The only reason it exists is because it is easy to measure and players are used to it.
If you want a value that defines the actual head-heaviness (or -lightness) of a racket, it would be the head weight. Do a search in the forum, you will find plenty of threads and posts concerning it.
And if you want to add how a rackets actually feels while moving it through the air, then look for the swing weight. The only downside is that you need a fancy machine to measure it and nobody can easily make sense of the value that you are getting.
So yes, adding weight to the handle area will, if anything, make the racket slower. But you will barely notice it since the extra weight is located inside your hand so basically at the point of rotation. The effect will be much bigger if you add the same weight to the head due to the lever effect.
