For Larissa Papenmeier, a special chapter came to an end during the MXGP of Germany in Teutschenthal. The German rider competed in her 100th race in the WMX World Championship and said goodbye to the sport at the highest level.

In front of her home crowd, Papenmeier experienced an emotional weekend. After many years competing in the world championship, an impressive career came to a close—one in which she became one of the most recognizable faces in the WMX class.

After the event, the German reflected on a weekend that will always hold a special place in her heart.

“It’s not a ‘goodbye,’ but a ‘see you later.’

This truly was an unforgettable weekend, and it will always stay in my heart. Memories like these are incredible, and I want to thank everyone who made this moment so special.”

The closing stages of her final race were particularly emotional.

“To be honest, the last laps of the second moto were heartbreaking. I started crying inside my helmet, but I can say that I enjoyed every single lap. I will definitely miss all of you—the fans who have always supported and encouraged me.”

With 100 WMX races to her name, Papenmeier now bids farewell to the world championship. Although her competitive career has come to an end, she emphasized that this is not a final goodbye to the sport, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

A fitting and emotional farewell for one of the familiar and respected names in the WMX paddock.
