England have announced their 15-player squad for the 2027 Women’s Under-19 World Cup, with the tournament set to take place in Nepal and Bangladesh from January. The squad combines players returning from England’s previous U19 campaign with several youngsters who have already gained experience in the Tier 1 county structure. Before the World Cup, the group will have opportunities to prepare together through training camps in the UK and a five-match T20 series in India in November.

Phoebe Brett returns to England’s U19 squad

Warwickshire spinner Phoebe Brett is among the notable inclusions after being part of the England side that reached the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Under-19 World Cup. Her return gives the squad a player with previous experience of the global age-group tournament as England begin preparations for their next campaign.

The Blaze’s Maria Andrews has also earned selection after previously being named a non-travelling reserve for the 2025 tournament. Her inclusion provides another player with familiarity with the England U19 setup. Several members of the squad have already been exposed to senior domestic cricket through the Tier 1 county system. Essex allrounder Bryony Gillgrass and Yorkshire legspinner Holly Garton are among those included, while Lancashire legspinner Venus Weerappuli brings further experience despite being only 16 years old.

England to tour India before World Cup

England’s preparation for the World Cup will begin well before the tournament itself. The selected group will attend training camps in the UK before travelling to India in November for a five-match T20 series. The India tour will provide the players with an opportunity to play together in competitive conditions ahead of the World Cup. The five non-travelling reserves will also remain involved in the programme, joining the training camps and travelling to India despite not being part of the final 15-player World Cup squad.

While the squad has now been confirmed, England are yet to decide who will lead the side at the 2027 Women’s Under-19 World Cup. The captain will be announced closer to the tournament. England’s squad therefore enters the preparation phase with a blend of returning World Cup experience and players progressing through the domestic pathway. With the UK camps followed by five T20 matches in India, the group will have a structured build-up before travelling to Nepal and Bangladesh for the January tournament.
