Daniel is an experienced football writer and editor, having worked in the football media industry for over a decade. 

After voluntarily writing for Fresh Press for two years, helping to build and establish the Read brand, Daniel started a part-time job with Fresh Press that later turned into a full-time writing and editing role, writing for club-specific pages such as Read Norwich, Read Celtic, Read Liverpool, and Read Arsenal.

Daniel spent just shy of a year writing and editing for Liverpool-based website, Anfield Watch, which included conducting and/or transcribing interviews with Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, former Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, and journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Since the summer of 2021, Daniel has worked for Snack Media (now Valnet) and has been a contributor to Football FanCast, on a freelance and full-time basis, as a writer and editor. 

Daniel is a Norwich City fan and season ticket holder. An expert of the Football League, specifically the Championship, he has been heard on BBC Norfolk and helped DAZN with research for their commentary due to his knowledge of the club, along with being featured in several local papers across the country, including the Coventry Telegraph and the Liverpool Echo, for Norwich-related content. 

Daniel's knowledge extends to Scottish football, having covered Celtic and Rangers for several years. He particularly enjoys producing player analysis and producing transfer content.

The Finland international left to sign for Belgian side Anderlecht for a fee of more than £4m, after spending just one full season with the Scottish Premiership giants.

His exit has left the Gers without a natural first-team right winger in their squad for the 2026/27 campaign, and they are looking to strengthen in that area.

The Light Blues are said to be exploring a deal to bring Vaclav Cerny to the club for a second spell, after he spent the 2024/25 season on loan from Wolfsburg.

The reason why Rangers may avoid re-signing Cerny

Whilst it remains to be seen exactly how much it may cost to sign the Czechia international from Besiktas, there is an argument for why the Gers should avoid a deal for him.

Cerny turns 29 in October and would not come through the door as a player with much potential or room to improve, which means that there may not be any resale value for the Scottish giants.

As a club that looks to develop and sell players so that they can generate funds to reinvest in the club, they may not want to pay big money for a player who may only make a short-term impact at Ibrox.

Cerny's goal return at Besiktas was not as impressive as it was during his time in Glasgow, which also could be a sign that his goalscoring powers are declining.

The Light Blues, therefore, may not want to pay a significant fee for a player who may not have long-term value or potential for the club moving forward.

Rangers pushing to sign a better winger than Cerny

Now, the Scottish giants are looking at a potential move for a player who would be an even better addition to the squad than Cerny would be this summer.

Sky Sports journalist Luca Bedoni reports that Glasgow Rangers are interested in a deal to sign Fares Ghedjemis from Frosinone before the end of the window.

The reporter claims that the Light Blues are pushing to bring the Algeria international to Ibrox, as the 49ers make moves to bolster McInnes' squad for the Premiership campaign.

Bedoni adds that the forward is considered one of the club's top targets and that they are battling several teams outside of Italy to land his signature in the coming weeks.

The Algerian attacker, who was the subject of an £8m bid from Norwich earlier this summer, would be a better signing for the Scottish giants than Cerny for several reasons.

In the 2025/26 campaign, Ghedjemis' form for Frosinone in the Serie B was far more impressive than what the Czechia international delivered in Turkey for Besiktas.

The £8m-rated talent scored ten more goals than Cerny did at league level last season, whilst also creating four more 'big chances' and racking up more xA.

His return of 15 goals in the Serie B is also more than the 28-year-old winger produced in the Premiership for Rangers in his season on loan at Ibrox, suggesting that he could offer even more in front of goal than Cerny did in his pomp in Glasgow.

One of the other big reasons why Ghedjemis may be a better signing than him for Rangers is that he is 23, five years younger than the former Wolfsburg man.

The left-footed right winger would arrive at Ibrox as a player who has the potential to develop and improve over the coming years, which could see his value sky rocket if he excels by scoring and assisting goals on a regular basis for the Gers.

Therefore, this reported pursuit of Ghedjemis makes more sense for the Light Blues than a move for Cerny does, as he may be a better player for McInnes in the short-term, whilst also being a more profitable asset in the future for the club.
