Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayWarren says Fury wants another fight before Anthony Joshua, but insists Ruiz is not under consideration
Tyson Fury is expected to fight again before a planned showdown with Anthony Joshua, but Frank Warren says Andy Ruiz Jr. will not be the opponent. Warren revealed Fury wants to stay active ahead of a potential Joshua clash and said Ruiz’s financial demands have taken him out of the running.
Fury returned to the ring in April and outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov in his first victory since 2023. A fight with Joshua remains the target, provided Joshua defeats Kristian Prenga on July 25, but Warren says Fury wants to stay active rather than wait several more months.
“He wants to fight, he wants a fight before the ‘AJ’ fight, providing ‘AJ’ comes through, which he should do, so he wants a fight before that, or he’ll have been out for another seven months,” said Warren to Playbook
“The intentions are he will have another fight, and I’m hoping we’ll be in a position very soon bit of luck this week, or maybe next week, that we can announce the opponent and the venue.”
Asked whether Ruiz was among the names being considered, Warren quickly dismissed the possibility.
“It won’t be him. It’ll be a decent name for him. Obviously, it’s like everything, his eye is on the ‘AJ’ fight, but it won’t be Andy Ruiz,” said Warren.
“The reason he doesn’t fight is cause the money he asks for is ridiculous.”
Ruiz has fought only three times since upsetting Joshua to win the unified heavyweight championship in 2019. Although his name has periodically surfaced in heavyweight discussions, Warren’s comments appear to rule out any immediate involvement in Fury’s plans.
Fury has previously mentioned Dublin as a possible location for his next appearance, with Warren expected to announce further details on his opponent and venue in the coming days.
