Bits & Bobs

New products that are worth highlighting but didn’t make the Dispatch…

Argo Cargo Bike Conversion Kit V2

$1,199 at Argo Bikes

Compatible with most mountain and city bikes, and even some road bikes, the Argo Cargo Kit 2 is a unique solution for turning the bike you already own into a front-loading cargo bike to carry kids, dogs, gear, or whatever else you need to haul. We can’t be sure how well it handles, but it’s a clever idea and a proven concept that raised more than $100,000 in Kickstarter and is now on its second iteration.

Tune Components Micro Boost Hubs and Wheels

Made in Germany / €210.00 – €1,080 at Tune

German component manufacturer Tune has announced the arrival of their Micro Hubs. Specced with J-bends for aggressive trail and gravel riding, a reinforced hub shell, and heat-treated steel pawls, the new E-MTB ready hubs are an interesting offering. Featuring 110 x 148mm spacing, 28 or 32 hole count hubs, a 6-bolt disc brake standard, and Hyperglide, MicroSpline, XD/XDR, N3W freehubs, these could be a great option for European based builders.

Slug Bikes Bonk Bucket Hat

$66 at Slug Bikes

Slug is releasing another hat for riders looking for, as they put it, long slow days. With the Bonk Bucket hat, wearers can get more sun-protection in an environmentally friendly blank from Parapack. With 50+ UPF recycled polyester ripstop and a cool slug on the side, this would make a great companion piece for anyone bikepacking in sunny places.

Wolf Tooth Fall Merch Drop

$10-50 at Wolf Tooth

Wolf Tooth Fall Merch

The leaves are starting to fall, and with that seasonal change comes Wolf Tooth’s fall merch drop. With a variety of options from beanies to coffee mugs and more, you can rep this Minnesota-based component manufacturer into this shoulder season in any way that makes sense to you.

Cinq Plug Pure 7

99€ at Tout Terrain

Cinq Plug Pure 7

Tout Terrain’s in-house brand, Cinq, has unveiled the Plug Pure 7, a head-tube–integrated dynamo charger that converts power from any hub dynamo into USB-C output (up to 800 mA) for phones, GPS units, navigation devices, or lights—keeping cockpits tidy and free of external chargers. Built for bikepacking, touring, and daily commuting, Cinq claims it delivers stable charging even at low speeds, is IP67 weather/dust sealed, and features a super-slim 11mm profile at just 23 grams, with a tested operating range from –40°C to 85°C. The package includes the Plug Pure 7, a 1 1/8″ fork expander with mounting screw, a silicone splash-guard cap, and instructions. Online availability starts in October.

Your Family Bikepacking Experiences

Dad and the Dempster

Earlier this week, we published Dad and the Dempster, a story about a father and daughter who bikepacked to a remote village in Canada. The story is fascinating in itself, and several commenters mentioned their own experiences riding with a parent. It has us wondering: have you ever gone bikepacking with a parent or child? How did it go, and were there any special considerations you had to keep in mind? We’d love to hear your advice and stories in the Conversation below.

The 2025 scholars who will present at the upcoming show from October 10–12 at Dresden International Airport are: Rasch Cycles (Berlin), who applied to overcome the barriers of skepticism and cost that many non-male builders face, is presenting a lightweight touring cargo bike shaped by smaller riders’ needs; GutterBikes (Naarm/Melbourne), who have spent a decade making bikes more accessible for queer and FLINTA communities by breaking down barriers in the Australian cycling scene through social rides, workshops, and grassroots organizing, is showing a durable, repairable bikepacking rig; RESET Adaptive Mountain Bike Solutions (Graz), showcasing adaptive off-road machines including the Ranger tilting enduro trike and Scout e-handbike; and Telbert Frames (Bristol), bringing a custom gravel bike scaled for smaller riders and informed by community projects for disadvantaged youth.

Fragments: A Tour Divide Film

Scott’s new film follows Robin Gemperle as he takes on the Tour Divide, arriving at the start fresh off a podium at Unbound XL just a week earlier. Instead of only documenting the miles, it rewinds to the hard work that made it possible: months of training, kit refinement, route study, and the countless pedal strokes that shaped his strategy. The result is a behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to line up for one of bikepacking’s biggest challenges—and to keep it together once the clock starts.

Exmoor Weekender

It’s been more than a year since they published it, but we recently stumbled upon Alan Danby and Britt Walker’s charming 90-second Exmoor Weekender video, which captures a carefree ride along a wide variety of beautiful trails around the English coast and through the countryside. Watch it above.

Birthday Bikepacking Overnighter

In early August, a few days after his birthday, Ian J. Whitmore and his friend Eric headed to Gifford Pinchot National Forest for an overnight bikepacking trip. Their route began at Crest Camp Trailhead, where we rode north up and around the Indian Heaven Wilderness. The route was inspired by the Fire & Ice Cave Loop contributed by Molly Sugar. Watch the video from Ian’s birthday ride above.

Lucas Winzenburg: The Woods Rat Run

Woods Rat Run

Maybe it was stumbling upon Alan and Britt’s video above earlier this week, but for whatever reason, I’ve been thinking about pedaling around England all week. Wild swims, pub stops, quiet country lanes, and stumbling upon layers of history are all reasons I love touring there, and I hope to convince some old friends in the area to ride The Woods Rat Run with me in the year ahead.
