Gilbert Arenas had a hard time believing LeBron James’ decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, sharing his reaction shortly after the blockbuster move became official.

The former NBA guard posted a video on X expressing his surprise over seeing the league’s all-time leading scorer in a 76ers uniform.

“This doesn’t look right, I’m sorry,” Arenas said. “… I know (wife) Savannah (James) didn’t approve this. Nobody approves of going to Philly.”

Despite Arenas’ reaction, James explained that his decision had nothing to do with money or family. Instead, he said the move was about continuing to pursue another championship.

“This is my last decision. I’m not going for money. I’m not going for a family,” he wrote. “What am I really playing for at this point?

“I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning.”

James also revealed he seriously considered retirement after the 2025-26 season before deciding he still wanted to keep playing.

Arenas continued his reaction by joking about the small player statues on the 76ers’ “Legends Walk” outside the team’s practice facility, saying James might not know what awaits him in Philadelphia.

“Congratulations, but I’m booing,” Arenas concluded.
