Design and Fit

The Arrio 24 offers a body-hugging fit that supports natural movement, thanks to its advanced suspension system. The back panel incorporates Gregory’s mesh back panel technology, which uses tensioned, engineered mesh for airflow and body-mapped support. This progressive mesh, combined with a frame-supported back panel, ensures optimized airflow, stability, and temperature regulation, helping keep the wearer more comfortable even during strenuous activity.

The shoulder harness enhances breathability with perforated foam and open mesh, while the elastic hipbelt offers flexible, stable support as you move. Together, these features reduce fatigue by distributing weight evenly and allowing heat and moisture to dissipate efficiently.

The side pockets are large and easily reachable

Comfort and Stability Features

The sternum stability strap includes an integrated safety whistle and a hydration hose routing clip for convenience and safety on the trail. The internal hydration sleeve comes equipped with a hydration hanger compatible with Gregory Hydro or other third-party reservoirs (not included), making hydration easy and secure.  I prefer using bottles with this pack, though, because the side pockets are large and easily accessible.

Molded zipper pulls improve handling and usability, while webbing strap keepers help manage straps neatly for a tidy appearance and better functionality. Reflective attachment loops on the front increase visibility for early-morning or evening use, enhancing safety.

Storage Accessibility

The Arrio 24 is thoughtfully organized for access and efficient packing. It features a clamshell-style main compartment for quick access to items without having to unload the entire pack to find something. It has plenty of storage to fit all my hiking layers in mountainous terrain, including extra insulation layers, my rain gear, my first-aid kit, and extra sun protection.

A front stretch pocket also adds convenience for stuffing loose layers when I want to take off clothing and don't feel like stopping to pack them into the pack's main compartment. There's an external zippered pocket above it with a key fob to store my sunglasses and wallet.

I don't use trekking poles, but the pack has a trekking pole system consisting of an elastic bungee loop and a lower webbing/ice axe loop, making it easy to carry them when not in use.

The mesh back is well ventilated but I wish there was a pocket on the shoulder strap for my phone/camera.

Performance

This backpack excels as a day-hiking pack thanks to its lightweight design, breathability, and secure fit.  The pack has short hip wings, not a full hip belt, that keep it secure with a wide elastic strap that loops around the front of your waist to keep it close to your body.

If there's one thing I'd change about this pack, it'd be to add pockets on the shoulder strap where I could stash my phone to take pictures, or an easy way to add accessory pockets to it.
