Guerschon Yabusele became the first target of Nikos Pantelis as Eurohoops’ “Feeling Awkward” series returned for its Season 3 premiere. Pantelis used the EuroLeague preseason media days to welcome new arrivals with a series of uncomfortable jokes, with the 30-year-old forward quickly finding himself on the receiving end.

The interview opened with Pantelis describing Yabusele as proof that someone can fail at the same NBA dream twice. The questions continued in a similar direction, including one asking what Yabusele had in common with Kobe Bryant. Yabusele responded that both valued their families and worked hard.

Pantelis also brought up Yabusele’s summer vlog from Mykonos and questioned whether the workout footage was included because he feared coach Zeljko Obradovic might see it. Yabusele acknowledged that both training and making sure his coach saw the work played a part.

The conversation then shifted to Yabusele’s decision to leave Real Madrid for another NBA opportunity. Pantelis referenced the significant buyout the French forward paid himself and joked about spending millions only to become an unimportant bench player.

Yabusele accepted the joke and admitted that within a couple of months he realized he had become the type of bench player he had previously promised himself he would never become.
