Hannes Steinbach wrapped up a strong NBA Summer League campaign with his best performance yet, delivering 22 points and 11 rebounds in Charlotte’s final game in Las Vegas.

The Hornets’ first-round pick continued to show why the organization targeted him during the draft as it reshaped its roster with an increased focus on size, toughness and interior play this offseason.

Standing 6-foot-11 and weighing 248 pounds, Steinbach believes his physical approach naturally fits what Charlotte is trying to build.

The young center says bringing energy and playing through contact has always been a major part of his game.

“Yeah, I just love playing physical, love to make contact,” Steinbach said. “So, I think it’s just bringing that to every game, every time I play.”

According to The Charlotte Observer, the Hornets also experimented with bigger lineups during Summer League, pairing Steinbach alongside fellow center Ryan Kalkbrenner in several “twin tower” combinations.
