With Andy Robertson sealed and delivered, and Marcos Senesi on the way, Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention towards signing a future star.

Tottenham racing to sign young striker

The Lilywhites mean business this summer after finishing just above the relegation zone in two-consecutive campaigns. Last season was all too close for comfort in the end, and Roberto De Zerbi is now the man tasked with ensuring that shock relegation threat becomes a thing of the past.

ENIC are already backing the Italian, too. Robertson's arrival has already been announced and the manager has had his say, telling Spurs' official website: "Andy is someone I’ve admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.

Liverpool's Andy Robertson celebrates after the match

"He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch. I can’t wait to start working with him and seeing the positive impact he will have on everyone around him."

It looks as though Senesi will be the next through the door. Reports are now claiming that the centre-back is set to sign his contract at the club in what is another bargain deal secured.

In those two arrivals, the Lilywhites have two players who should make an instant impact for De Zerbi, and that now gives them the chance to focus on welcoming an exciting youngster.

According to Fussballdaten, Tottenham have stormed into the race to sign Djylian N'Guessan from Saint-Etiene this summer. The 18-year-old is wanted across Europe, with Eintracht Frankfurt among those also in the race, and has just one year left on his current deal in France.

That means Saint-Étienne could have no choice but to green light his exit this summer if they want to avoid losing him on a free deal this time next year.

Why Tottenham should sign N'Guessan this summer

The threat of relegation over the last two years shouldn't scrap Tottenham's five-year plan altogether.

As much as it's important to get immediate fresh faces right this summer, the chance to sign N'Guessan represents an opportunity to future-proof De Zerbi's frontline in North London.

Praised by U23 scout Antonio Mango back in November, N'Guessan has already scored his first senior goal for Saint-Etienne and is only likely to get even better in the next 12 months, having earned comparisons to Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi who also made the move from France to England as a teenage striker. Spurs would be wise to strike early and take a chance on a rising star this summer.
