Robbie is the Assistant Editor at Football FanCast.

Having graduated from the University of Exeter in 2020, Robbie spent time working as an intern or in freelance positions across a variety of sites, including at 90min, producing news and feature content related to clubs in the Premier League, EFL, SPFL and in Europe.

Robbie subsequently spent over a year working as a news, features and opinion writer at Football Faithful, primarily focused on the Premier League and Manchester United, in particular.

After beginning life at Football FanCast as part of the company's academy set-up in 2022, Robbie has risen through the ranks to now taking on the role of Assistant Editor since October 2023, having also been part of the Exclusives team in the past.

Across the last few years, Robbie has covered Manchester United, Celtic and Rangers on a regular basis, alongside a raft of other clubs, boasting an in-depth knowledge of the Premier League, EFL and Scottish football in general.

Robbie is a Manchester United fan, but also has a particular fondness for both Celtic and Wycombe Wanderers, taking in a multitude of home and away games for the Chairboys over the last two decades.

It mattered little in the grand scheme of things for Danny Rohl, although Glasgow Rangers did at least round off 2025/26 on a high note, putting five past John McGlynn's side on the final day last weekend.

Just a few weeks on from hitting their opponents for six, the Gers again ran riot in attack on Saturday, with Youssef Chermiti boosting his goal tally with a thumping, eye-catching hat-trick.

The full array of the 21-year-old's finishing prowess was on display, it must be said, notably volleying in an outrageous effort from just outside the area for his second of the day.

Having finished on 15 Premiership goals for the season, the Portuguese striker can reflect on a creditable debut campaign at Ibrox, yet can he be considered a truly successful addition?

Why Chermiti hasn't yet quashed the doubters at Ibrox

15 league goals for a player who hadn't scored at all at former club Everton is a respectable tally, not least considering Chermiti is still only 21.

There have been notable high moments too for the one-time Sporting CP starlet, particularly his stunning overhead kick against Celtic back in March.

Eight goals against the Parkhead side and Hearts make for good reading, although the persistent issue is that Chermiti's goals have merely come in bursts, never really finding any level of consistency.

Indeed, his 15 goals have come in just eight Premiership games, while five of them came in just the two most recent meetings with Falkirk.

For a player who cost upwards of £8m, that tendency to prove erratic is an issue, as too is the fact that he finished the season with 18 'big chances' missed, the second-most of any player in the division.

He was at least Rangers' top scorer in the league, albeit while still behind the record of the much-maligned Cyriel Dessers, with the Nigerian scoring 16 and 18 Premiership goals across his two full seasons at Ibrox, respectively.

Chermiti hasn't yet shaken off the doubters, it must be said, hence why further striker signings could be needed this summer.

Rangers could see £6m bid accepted for new striker

Even after a season that saw three centre-forwards arrive in Glasgow, the number nine berth still appears to be a priority, if reports are to be believed, amid notable interest in the likes of Plymouth Argyle's Lorent Tolaj and Leeds United's Joel Piroe.

As reported earlier this year too, the Gers could potentially see a £6m bid accepted for FC Zurich star, Philippe Keny, with the likes of Wrexham and Coventry City also in the mix.

The suggestion is that the 27-year-old is a leading target for those at Ibrox, having enjoyed a fruitful season of his own in Switzerland in 2025/26.

He may have scored just 13 league goals, but he netted in 11 different outings, a superior record to Chermiti's stop-start season under Rohl and Russell Martin.

The Senegalese striker also missed just 15 'big chances', three fewer than Chermiti, with that coming despite starting 11 more games than the Rangers' number nine.

He also created more big chances (six vs five) and enjoyed a better average with regard to key passes per game (1.0 vs 0.7), suggesting that Keny could prove something of an upgrade as a link-man through the middle.

While Keny is six years older than his Rangers counterpart, he does also boast the benefit of having proven himself elsewhere, with Chermiti, by contrast, still something of an unknown quantity in that regard, amid his woes on Merseyside.

The Zurich striker previously scored 13 times at Istanbul Basaksehir, albeit in just over 100 games, yet netted 14 in 36 for Bandirma Spor and 13 in 33 for his current side.

What must also be taken into consideration too is the level that Keny is producing at, with the Swiss Super League deemed to be the 24th best league in the world, as per Global Football Rankings.

For comparison, the Scottish Premiership only ranks 33rd on the list, ensuring that, all being well, Keny should be able to slot in smoothly to life at Ibrox.

Of course, as multiple strikers have come to learn now, making a success of it in such a pressurised environment like at Rangers is never easy, with Chermiti notably taking a while to get going, after failing to score at all under Martin's watch.

Hopefully, Keny, considering his experience and proven record across multiple clubs, could represent something of an upgrade in that regard, at a time when the club are crying out for a truly prolific, attacking figurehead.
