They are already being linked with attackers who could come in to play alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a front two, such as England international Tammy Abraham.
Leeds currently have Calvert-Lewin, Joel Piroe, and Lukas Nmecha as their natural centre-forward options, and they appear to be looking to add another player to the mix.
The Whites also lack natural quality in the wide areas after Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto struggled to deal with the step up to the Premier League this season.
The West Yorkshire outfit once had an electric winger on their books when they had Raphinha in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns, as he racked up 17 goals and 12 assists in all competitions in those two years.
Barcelona snapped the left-footed forward up for a fee of £55m in the summer of 2022 after his impressive stint in England, and the Whites are now looking at one of his teammates in Spain.
According to TEAMtalk, Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in a deal to sign Roony Bardghji from Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Whites have already made contact with the Catalan giants to check in on the 20-year-old's situation at the Camp Nou heading into the off-season.
It adds that Aston Villa, Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, and Brentford have also touched base to see if he will be available for a transfer this summer.
TEAMtalk reveals that Barcelona are open to a permanent exit for the young winger, despite his preference being a loan move, after they completed the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for £70m.
How Roony Bardghji can be the new Raphinha for Leeds
Leeds once took a risk on a talented left-footed right winger when they signed Raphinha from Rennes in 2020 after he had scored five goals and provided two assists in the 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign.
Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch were able to help him fulfill his potential in the Premier League, which then earned him a move to Barcelona, where the forward has racked up 75 goals and 59 assists in 177 matches.
Bardghji only started seven of his 21 appearances in LaLiga for Barcelona this season, but his underlying numbers suggest that the potential is there for him to be a top signing for Leeds, who could offer him more minutes on the pitch.

He ranked highly among his positional peers in a host of creative and dribbling metrics, which suggests that he could be a Raphinha-esque player for the Whites if they give him plenty of game time to produce week-in-week-out.
Raphinha was, of course, a terrific dribbler for Leeds during his time at Elland Road, coming in on his left foot off the right flank, with his goal against Norwich in the Premier League being a perfect example of that.
Bardghji, who was described as "similar to Lamine (Yamal)" by Barcelona chief Deco, is an exciting dribbler who, like both Yamal and Raphinha, can consistently beat his man by cutting in on his left foot from the right wing.
It has been hard for the Swedish youngster to get regular game time at Barcelona, because he has Yamal and Raphinha ahead of him, and that is why a move to Elland Road could be the best next step for the 20-year-old.
Leeds can offer him the same platform that they offered the Brazil international, who thrived whilst playing regularly in the Premier League, and that could help Bardghji to fulfill his potential.
The left-footed star, who scored eight goals in 27 games for Copenhagen in the 2023/24 campaign before an ACL injury ruled him out for most of the 2024/25 season, has the attributes to follow in Raphinha's footsteps in West Yorkshire.
It is a risky signing, given that he has not proven himself week-in-week-out at Barcelona, but Raphinha was also a risky signing when he joined from Rennes, and that is why the Whites must push to get this deal over the line.
