Honda HRC PETRONAS rider and new 2026 World Champion Jeffrey Herlings continued his amazing winning streak, going one-one at the MXGP of China, winning his 12th GP of the season and seventh in a row, in what has been an incredible campaign for the now six-time world champion.

In the first race, he didn’t get the holeshot, but quickly moved into the lead on the first lap and controlled the rest of the race. The second race went similarly, but he got the holeshot this time and although there was a bit of pressure towards the end, he was able to take the victory which means he has now won the last 38 sessions (warm-ups, practices and races). With the championship wrapped up last weekend, this final round in Darwin, Australia gives him one more chance to increase all his already impressive statistics, and really put an exclamation point on this 2026 season – his first with Honda HRC PETRONAS.

Teammate Tom Vialle also continued his excellent recent form by taking third step on the podium, adding to his trophies from Turkiye, the Netherlands and Sweden and moving himself into fourth place in the championship standings. The Frenchman also grabbed the holeshot from the first moto and it is now a private duel between the two Honda CRF450RW riders on who will end the season with the most, with Vialle currently leading Herlings by one.

The riders now have to travel to Darwin, Australia for next weekend’s 19^th and final round of the 2026 MXGP World Championship, with both riders highly motivated to end on a high, and step onto the podium for one last time.

I had a crash in warm-up today which wasn’t nice and I bit my tongue and hurt my neck and while it wasn’t big, it was just annoying to ride with. I felt my speed was good for the first half of the races but I couldn’t keep it going until the end so that was a little frustrating, but overall, I am happy to be on the podium. Of course I want to try and win in Australia, I didn’t race there last year, but it is the final round of the season and I will give it everything I have

It’s great to keep this winning streak going, but it certainly hasn’t been easy these past few GPs. Every time someone has stepped up and made life difficult for me, but I still managed to get the job done. Obviously my starts have helped me out so a big thank you to the team for all their work with that, but yea, I’m also on a nice run winning every session as well, so I’m just hoping to keep that rolling until the end of the season.

Jeffrey keeps doing what Jeffrey does, and that’s win. Even when he’s had pressure these last few races, he manages to keep them far enough away that he is never in real danger. He is at the top of his game right now and it is great to be a part of it. Tom also did well, in what were difficult circumstances for him to dig deep and make it on the podium for the fourth time in a row. We now have just one round remaining and we will try our best to keep the good times going for one more week.
