After securing survival last season, Leeds United have laid out the perfect blueprint of what is needed to be successful in the Premier League after promotion from the Championship.

Daniel Farke’s men were hugely touted for an immediate return to the second tier last term, but with shrewd dealings and phenomenal tactical tweaks - the club defied the odds.

He ranked at the top of the club’s charts for tackles and interceptions last campaign, subsequently highlighting his phenomenal efforts in the defensive third.

Ampadu has continued his remarkable form during the early stages of 2026/27, subsequently featuring for every minute of the season to date and registering the most defensive contributions of any player in the squad.

The manager even stated early this season that he is “probably our most important player” and he “deserves all the praise” that’s being handed his way.

As a result, he’s seen his market value skyrocket over the last few months, with the Welshman now valued at £25m by Transfermarkt - a figure over 200% of what the club paid for his signature.

His £7m transfer fee now looks to be an absolute bargain and one that will no doubt go down as one of the club’s best if they can achieve success in the months ahead.

His move three years ago is evidence that there are still bargain deals to be had within the current transfer market, with Leeds needing to emulate such moves to help them mount a push for a European spot.
