UFC bantamweight Raul Rosas Jr. has weighed in on when he believes he will retire from MMA and what might compel him to walk away.

The 21-year-old, who boasts a professional record of 12-1, is currently riding a 5-fight UFC win streak and has defeated Rob Font and Vince Morales, among others.

This weekend at the Meta Apex, the Mexican fighter is set to lock horns with Raoni Barcelos.

Raul Rosas Jr. discusses potential retirement ahead of UFC Vegas 121

During fight week, while discussing a potential retirement, Raul Rosas Jr. confessed in a sit-down with Full Send MMA that if he accomplishes everything he wants in the sport by 25, he will hang up his gloves. “El Niño Problema” said:

“If by 25 I’ve accomplished everything I want to accomplish in my career, then I’m gonna step back from the sport.”

The 21-year-old plans to capture the UFC bantamweight title first, defend it a couple of times, and then move up to featherweight or even lightweight in pursuit of two-division glory. He added

“The goal is to get the belt and then defend it a couple of times. Try to challenge myself, go up a weight class, maybe two. After I run out of goals, that’s when I will [retire]. It could be 26, 27, 28… Whenever I am done with my goals that’s when I will step out of the game.”

Raul Rosas Jr. wants to make a statement against Raoni Barcelos this weekend at UFC Vegas 121. During media day ahead of his first UFC main event, Rosas Jr. praised his opponent’s experience and highlighted Barcelos’ wins over fighters such as Payton Talbott and Montel Jackson. Rosas Jr. also added that he knew he would take on Barcelos at some point.

Despite Barcelos’ experience and five-fight UFC winning streak, Rosas Jr. believes he has what it takes to snap the veteran’s run.
