Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayMLB insider Jon Heyman believes that the New York Yankees should strongly pursue Mason Miller as one of their top trade targets at the August 3. deadline.
A flamethrower who is considered one of the top closers in MLB, Miller would vastly improve a Yankees bullpen that's been a significant weakness this season.
When Miller found out the rumors about the Yankees interest in him he was flattered.
“The Yankees are a good team, and they’re obviously a team that is going to add most years," Miller said, via Mark W. Sanchez of the New York Post. "I think it’s just a compliment in a way that good teams are interested in good players.”
Miller's fastball makes him one of the most electric relievers in the game, as it averages 101.3 mph this season. Meanwhile, his slider holds an impressive 59% strikeout rate against batters.

— SleeperMLB (@SleeperMLB) July 14, 2026What it would take for the Yankees to acquire Miller
Miller would provide the Yankees with a competitive edge in the late-innings paired with David Bednar, who is the Yankees current closer. Bednar would shift as a set-up man if the Yankees were to acquire Miller.
The duo of Miller and Bednar would help the Yankees dominate in the postseason. Bednar owns a 3-3 record and 2.70 ERA with 45 strikeouts and 18 saves this season. Miller's 0.91 ERA leads MLB and he is tied for second with 25 saves.
The 27-year-old is banking only $4 million this season and remains under team control through 2029. Last season the Yankees were in the same position looking to make a push for Miller, but were unwilling to part with top prospect George Lombard Jr.
This season, MLB analysts have discussed a trade package including Jasson Domínguez, Spencer Jones and Will Warren. Whether the Yankees would be willing to part with those assets remains to be seen.
