Islam Makhachev wasted no time in responding to Jordan Burroughs’ callout.

Burroughs took on Magomed Kurbanaliev at RAF Moscow, which took place in Arena Mytishchi. The 38-year-old eased to victory, earning a technical fall to win 10-0.

Following the win, when asked by Chael Sonnen who he would like to face next, Burroughs replied:

Islam [Makhachev]! Where are you? Hey, I came to your country, to your capital city, and tech fall one of your world champions. I’ll be back to Russia very soon, and the only person I want to share the stage with is Islam. I’ll be back.

The response from Makhachev came in double-quick time. Taking to X, the welterweight champion shared a 10-word reply to Burroughs’ callout. He wrote:

Congrats on your win legend. In the cage, anywhere anytime.

Islam Makhachev Recently Beat Ian Machado Garry In what was his First Welterweight title Defense

Islam Makhachev took on Ian Machado Garry on the 15th of August at UFC 330, where he defended his welterweight title for the first time.

The Russian started off strongly and even scored a knockdown with a brutal head kick and right hook in the second round.

While it looked like Makhachev would eventually wrap things up, Garry came back strong in the third round, with improved takedown defense and distance control.

The fourth round was a bit close too, but a late takedown in round five from Makhachev meant that the belt was in all likelihood staying with the Dagestani. The 34-year-old earned a unanimous decision win to take his win streak to a record 17.
