After losing the final two games of their last series, the Milwaukee Brewers are building a new win streak thanks to the latest quality start from ace Jacob Misiorowski.

The Brewers' flame thrower torched the Colorado Rockies en route to a 7-1 victory on Sunday night.

Misiorowski didn't just go seven innings in a win, he did it while blowing away Rockies' batters all night long. He recorded eight strikeouts in style.

Jacob Misiorowski brought the heat to Colorado

In fact, the headline aspect of Misiorowski's performance wasn't even just about his overall statistics. What stood out more than anything is more than half of his pitches read 100+ MPH.

Misiorowski threw 98 pitches in his seven innings - his third-straight game reaching the seventh inning - and only allowed the one run off four hits.

Thanks to Misiorowski being at his best, the Brewers picked up their 39th win of the season. Milwaukee (39-23) holds a five-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals for the top spot in the National League Central.

Misiorowski has already exceeded his total from his rookie season

Misiorowski now owns a personal record of 7-2. But the most impressive part of his season so far and why he's firmly in the National League Cy Young race is his 1.50 ERA an 0.81 WHIP.

Misiorowski also has 116 strikeouts and has only allowed 13 earned runs off 41 hits through 13 starts and 78.0 innings to this point.

The 24-year-old who made his MLB debut on June 12 of last season has taken his game to another level in his second year as a professional, already exceeding his rookie campaign. He was 5-3 with a 4.26 ERA and 87 strikeouts in 14 starts last summer.
