In a game in which they were being shut out and in a game in which they entered having lost eight of nine, Jazz Chisholm Jr. left after the fifth inning with right big toe discomfort.

X-rays were negative, the Yankees said, and he’ll be reassessed Monday.

In the bottom of the fifth Sunday in The Bronx, Chisholm lifted a fly ball to fairly deep right field and hobbled to first base. The ball was caught, and Chisholm walked slowly to and through the dugout.

He briefly spoke with manager Aaron Boone, who immediately motioned to Amed Rosario, who entered the game at third base, which pushed José Caballero to second.

There was no immediate update from the Yankees regarding Chisholm’s status.

It was unclear when Chisholm suffered the apparent injury, but he owned the worst moment of the afternoon for the Yankees. In the second inning, Chisholm won a nine-pitch battle with Minnesota’s Joe Ryan and roped a long single into right, but he then fiddled with his sliding glove at first base, which led to his getting picked off.
