UFC veteran Jon Jones has explained why he felt humbled in the wake of the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House.

When you talk about controversial figures in the world of mixed martial arts, Jon Jones has to feature towards the top of that list. He has been involved in many incidents away from the cage, as well as a few inside of it.

Recently, Jones and the UFC haven’t been getting on quite as well as they once did. Dana White doesn’t appear to be too interested in putting him in a fight anytime soon, which was proven when Jon didn’t feature on the UFC Freedom 250 card.

Jones was, however, watching the show, and in a recent interview, he had a few things to say about it.

“I absolutely loved it,” Jones told Red Corner MMA. “It really showed me – it humbled me, and it showed me that our sport is at a prestigious level right now. When I first started MMA, we weren’t allowed to compete in New York state. People looked at it as taboo, a very weird thing to do. Now, it’s like a very honorable sport to be a part of – probably one of the most honorable sports to be a part of right now in history.”

“I’m grateful to be considered one of the best in this sport’s history,” Jones said. “It makes me feel a lot more important since the White House card.”
