Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayUFC flyweight champion Joshua Van’s potential rematch with former titleholder Alexandre Pantoja might be indefinitely postponed.
Joshua Van retained his UFC flyweight title against Tatsuro Taira in one of the greatest fights in the division’s history last weekend at UFC 328. But the reigning champion paid a steep price for his efforts in the Octagon after securing a late knockout win.
Van, who won the UFC flyweight belt after Alexandre Pantoja suffered an injury just minutes into their fight at UFC 323, defeated Taira by fifth-round TKO last Saturday in Newark. The 24-year-old is one of the UFC’s fastest-rising stars and is expected to be a fixture in the flyweight division for years to come.
Van faced adversity in his fight with Taira, surviving multiple early submission attempts as Taira closed in on a potential belt win. But Van rallied late to leave Taira’s face a bloody mess as he secured the highlight-reel finish.
Next, Van is on a likely collision course with Pantoja for a flyweight title rematch after UFC 328. But the UFC matchmakers might have to wait a bit to book the rematch after the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board handed Van an indefinite medical suspension.

As of this writing, the extent of Van’s left-hand injury remains uncertain.
Van’s opponent, Taira, also received an indefinite medical suspension pending a CT head scan. Additionally, Taira received a 60-day no-contact suspension after the knockout loss.
Van moved to 17-2 in his MMA career and has won seven consecutive fights, including recent wins over Brandon Royval and Bruno Silva.
