Julian Alvarez continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal, and the Gunners view him as a dream transfer target.

According to a report from the BBC, Arsenal are trying to get the deal done before the deadline day, but they are fully aware that the transfer is now a long shot. The former Manchester City striker is not keen on a move to the London club, and he has not given the green light to Arsenal.

Apparently, the player dreams of playing for Barcelona, and he believes joining Arsenal would end any hopes of joining the Spanish champions.

In addition to that, certain visa regulations would make it difficult for his family to visit him in the United Kingdom as well. Therefore, he wants to join Barcelona, and the Spanish champions are doing everything in their power to make the move happen.

However, Atletico Madrid are adamant that they will not sell him to a rival club. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Alvarez faces difficult Arsenal decision

Arsenal need a quality striker leading the line for them, and Alvarez would be an upgrade on Viktor Gyokeres. The South American can create opportunities for his teammates and score goals. He can operate centrally as well as on the flanks. He has a more complete skill set than the Swedish international.

However, the deal looks increasingly difficult, and the only way the move could happen is if the player decides to return to the Premier League.

Convincing Atletico Madrid to sell the player might not be too difficult for Arsenal, but Alvarez remains keen on joining Barcelona.
