The Sacramento Kings have added Tristen Newton and Leaky Black on training camp deals, according to HoopsHype, while waiving forwards Gabe Levin and Tyrone Marshall Jr.

Newton joins Sacramento after spending the 2025-26 season between the Iowa Wolves, Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Houston Rockets. The 26-year-old guard had a productive year in the G League, averaging 26.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 19 games with Iowa before averaging 25.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists over 30 games with Rio Grande Valley.

Newton also appeared in one NBA game for Houston, scoring 12 points in 12 minutes. He shot 44.4% from the field and 40% from three-point range in that appearance.

The former UConn guard has also shown the ability to contribute as a playmaker. During his senior season with the Huskies in 2023-24, Newton averaged 15.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists over 39 games while helping UConn win the national championship.

Newton entered the NBA after being selected No. 49 overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2024 NBA Draft. He played five games for Indiana during the 2024-25 season and also spent time with the Mad Ants before later joining Minnesota’s G League affiliate.

Black, meanwhile, brings NBA and G League experience to Sacramento’s training camp. The 27-year-old forward played 15 games for the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 7.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28.8 minutes per game.

Black also spent the 2025-26 season with the Capital City Go-Go, where he averaged 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists across 38 games. He shot 45.3% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range.

A former North Carolina standout, Black went undrafted in 2023 before joining the Charlotte Hornets. He averaged 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 25 G League games with the Greensboro Swarm during his first professional season.

The Kings are reshaping their roster around a young core after winning just 22 games in 2025-26. Keegan Murray, Nique Clifford, Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell are among the players expected to remain central to Sacramento’s plans, while the team also selected Darius Acuff Jr. No. 7 overall and acquired Alex Karaban on draft night.

Sacramento also signed Ben Simmons to a minimum contract and re-signed Precious Achiuwa and Daeqwon Plowden this offseason.
