Today, Lazer is launching a brand new full-face helmet, known as the A-Line KinetiCore. This new gravity helmet slots into the brand’s lineup as the top-tier full-face above the existing Cage and Chase models. Made with a carbon fiber shell and Lazer’s unique DualCore KinetiCore technology, the A-Line aims to bring top-level protection for gravity riders pushing the limits of speed and terrain. It’s ASTM Downhill-certified and fully featured, with a relatively sleek profile and surprisingly light weight.

Lazer A-Line KinetiCore Details

Lazer says they designed the new A-Line helmet with input from renowned athletes to take on the toughest gravity rides. The shell is made of carbon fiber to keep the weight down while providing the first line of impact protection. Inside, Lazer has incorporated its unique, proprietary KinetiCore impact protection system, with EPS foam blocks designed to crumple during impacts and absorb energy from both direct and angled impacts.

DualCore

On the A-Line helmet, KinetiCore is now being combined with what the brand refers to as DualCore technology. DualCore is Lazer’s term for the dual-density EPS foam liner construction. According to Lazer, “The soft low-density layer sits closer to the head, protecting against rotational impact. The hard, high-density layer sits further away from the brain, ready to absorb direct impact.”

Features

For security when charging aggressive lines, the A-Line uses a double D-ring strap. In the event of a serious crash, the emergency-release cheek pads should help responders remove the helmet more safely. Lazer also added a soft trim around the lower edge of the carbon shell for comfort and protection of the collarbone.

Rounding out the feature set is a fixed visor with space for an under-visor camera mount, and there’s an integrated goggle gripper on the rear of the helmet to keep goggles stable and your vision clear on rough descents. Lazer didn’t provide specifics on ventilation, but there appear to be three vents on the chinbar, along with several small intake and exhaust vents on the top and back of the head.

Weight

With a claimed weight of 840 grams in size medium, the A-Line is one of the lightest full-face helmets in its class. For comparison, the Fox Rampage RS shares a similar design and materials, including a carbon shell, and it weighs a claimed 980 grams in the same size.

The Lazer folks gave us a sneak peek of the A-Line back at Sea Otter, and we were taken aback by how light the helmet felt in hand. Also notable was its fairly sleek, low-profile shape and streamlined appearance compared to some of the bulkier helmets in this category.

Lazer A-Line KinetiCore: Sizes, Colors, Pricing, and Availability

The new A-Line helmet is available in five sizes, XS to XL. It comes in three colors: Carbon Black, Carbon Black Gold, and Carbon Red. It retails for $499.99 USD / $699.99 CAD / €499,99, and is available now through the brand’s website and select Lazer retailers.
