LeBron James had an in-person meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the early part of July. James hosted the meeting in his home in Akron and featured only Grant Gilbert, Koby Altman and Brandon Weems from the Cavaliers' side.

James and the members of the Cavaliers discussed what a third stint with the franchise would look like.

James remained fairly distant from the other teams during the process, allowing Rich Paul to handle the correspondence.

James ultimately decided to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers as he wanted to "seek something new."
