LeBron James says the wait for his free-agency decision is almost over, although he stopped short of providing a specific date.

Speaking at Fanatics Fest in New York, the four-time NBA champion assured fans that an announcement is coming soon.

“I won’t hold you guys up too much longer,” James said at Fanatics Fest in New York on Thursday.

Exactly when that decision will arrive remains unknown, but James’ next destination continues to be one of the biggest storylines of the NBA offseason.

The uncertainty has even affected the league itself. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently revealed that the official schedule has not yet been finalized because James’ choice will influence several marquee matchups.

“We have to finish up the schedule and where LeBron plays affects the schedule … It will influence how we set the schedule – opening week, Christmas. So I need him to make a decision,” Silver said.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors continue to be viewed as the leading contenders to sign the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
