LeBron James acknowledged that entering free agency gives him complete control over where he plays next season.

The four-time NBA champion said he understands he could either remain with the Los Angeles Lakers or potentially consider another situation later this summer.

“I understand that I’m a free agent and I can control my own destiny,” James said. “Being here with the Lakers for the foreseeable future or if it’s going somewhere else.”

If James decides to return for another year, it would extend his NBA record for the longest career in league history.

For now, however, James said his immediate focus remains spending time with family before turning full attention toward basketball decisions.
