Leeds United have dipped their toes back into the transfer market after sending shockwaves through the Premier League with the free agent swoop of Harry Wilson.

Landing Wilson was a statement, with the Welshman collecting a standout 17 goals and assists last campaign in the top-flight, yet he was snapped up on a free by Daniel Farke and Co, rather remarkably.

Alongside showing they mean business with this shrewd acquisition, Leeds have just put their money where their mouth is to land Tarik Muharemovic for around the £34.1m mark, as the Bosnian centre-back aims to be an instant success to fill a Pascal Struijk-shaped hole.

They're pushing ahead with even more eye-catching deals, too, as another Wilson-style purchase looks to be in the works...

Leeds keen to sign another Premier League star

All this early whirlwind business is very unlike the Whites, who have been known to leave their business until the final hour in recent memory.

Clearly, the West Yorkshire giants don't want to fall victim to a second season slump that results in a heartbreaking relegation, with Wilson hopefully scoring the goals that enables Leeds to become a confident mid-table outfit in such a taxing division.

The ambitious Whites could be about to acquire another player of immense Premier League quality for zilch, in John Stones, with BBC Sport recently reporting that Leeds want to keep the Yorkshire born defender in the English top-flight, amid European interest in the veteran's services from Juventus and Inter Milan.

Stones has just shown there's life in his legs out at the 2026 World Cup with England, having been let go of by Manchester City this off-season, so it could be another inspired move, like Wilson's, if it's agreed.

Why Stones would be an exceptional signing for Leeds

Stones is fresh off a fast-paced tournament he featured heavily in for Thomas Tuchel's Three Lions, with it evidently clear that the 32-year-old is a hugely popular figure in the international team's dressing rooms, after his antics post the dramatic 3-2 win over Mexico.

More importantly, as well, he proved he still has what it takes to perform at the very top of his game in such a pressurised environment, with the back-to-the-walls 2-1 victory over Norway seeing him amass seven clearances, and average a sparkling 96% pass accuracy as a cool customer under all that pressure.

Away from his international heroics, Stones would also arrive at Leeds eager to break into the first team, with the ageing defender boasting some top quality numbers over the years at the Etihad, like Wilson at Craven Cottage, irrespective of his contract being ripped up.

Indeed, like the Wales star, he's a proven top-flight figure. He is a six-time Premier League champion after all, with nine top-flight goals coming his way when regularly featuring in the heart of the Citizens defence.

With a 92% pass accuracy averaged across all the 257 Premier League games he has lined up for, alongside a bumper 75 clean sheets, the hope on Stones' end will be that he can have one final moment in the sun in the elite league with Leeds, with Wilson proving - at 29 years of age last season - that age is merely a number when class is permanent.

It could be tough for Stones to immediately break into the first-team picture under Farke, with the £34.1m arrival of Muharemovic stealing all the headlines at the back.

But, with the serial winner being noted as a "world-class" performer by journalist Henry Winter recently, he will surely be able to break into the starting XI, with Wilson ready to shake up Farke's plans, too, even with the likes of Noah Okafor already at the German's disposal.

Leeds would be fools to not go after this Wilson-like deal, with Stones also previously named in the PFA Team of the Year twice as a household name in the English game.
