Liverpool are now readying a move for a "jaw-dropping" Premier League star, and they are confident about winning the race for his signature.

Arne Slot not planning "drastic" changes this summer

The Reds look set to just about get over the line in their push for Champions League qualification, which is a considerable drop-off, after winning the Premier League title last season.

Perhaps a decline should've been expected, given that Arne Slot made some considerable changes to his squad last summer, and new strikers Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike have spent a lot of time on the treatment table.

However, Slot isn't planning any major surgery this summer, saying: "Indeed it will be another little transition, but probably not as drastic as it was last summer. We have to change a bit of personnel because of the two players who are leaving (Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson).

"One of them will probably be replaced with Kostas Tsimikas as he is coming back from a loan (at Roma)."

That is despite the fact Ekitike may be out until 2027, after rupturing his Achilles tendon in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

However, with the Frenchman set for a long spell on the sidelines, the Reds are set to step up their pursuit of a Premier League forward.

Liverpool preparing move for "jaw-dropping" star

According to a report from Sports Boom, Liverpool are now readying a move for AFC Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi, and they are increasingly confident they will be able to win the race for his signature, despite rival interest from Europa League winners Aston Villa.

Slot is a big fan of the Frenchman, and believes he could become one of the Premier League's biggest stars, with the Dutchman still convinced he will remain in charge next season.

Manchester United have also set their sights on the 19-year-old, but a deal could be extremely expensive, with a potential fee of £100m being touted.

The Cherries, who are set to travel to Anfield on the final day, have been one of the surprise packages of the season in the Premier League, and Kroupi has played a key role in their push for the Champions League places.

  • 32 matches played
  • 13 goals
  • 0 assists
  • 2.6 shots per 90
  • 0.73 goals per 90

Scout Antonio Mango is also an admirer of the former Lorient man, saying: "Creative and clinical in the box, Junior Kroupi has the ability of jaw-dropping individual brilliance that only a rare breed of player can produce. Creative and extremely unselfish, Junior Kroupi has wonderful poise on the ball and acts so freely in his creative measures."
