Backroom problems have, at least, finally settled and performances on the field were better at the back end of 2025/26 with Michael Carrick replacing Ruben Amorim on an interim basis.

They missed out on some top midfielders as they aimed to replaced Casemiro. Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali - two of the Premier League's highest earners now - were targets but no move to Old Trafford materialised.

Thankfully for Man United fans, long gone are the days of Andre Onana inbetween the sticks. The club's main stopper now is Belgian Senne Lammens who earns a weekly salary of £60k. That's not huge when you consider Manchester City's number one, Gianluigi Donnarumma, is on £265k-per-week.

Tom Heaton remains at the club on a £45k-a-week pay packet while Karl Darlow arrived from Leeds in the summer of 2026 and earns a weekly wage of £30k.

Man United defender salaries

Perhaps surprisingly, Manchester United did not bolster their defence ahead of the 2026/27 season so the backline that was filled with inconsistency last season remains intact.

United pursued Newcastle's Lewis Hall but to no avail, meaning the ageing Luke Shaw is still featuring at left-back. He is the club's third-highest earning defender on £150k-per-week. Ahead of him is Harry Maguire, although his deal expires in the summer of 2027, and Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt.

Man United midfielder salaries

Bruno Fernandes is, unsurprisingly, Man United's highest earner this season. Who else, eh? The 2025/26 PFA Player of the Year winner was in jaw-dropping form last time out, registering a haul of 21 assists, beating a seasonal record held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.

He's one of the best midfielders in the world and he's one of the best paid players in the Premier League too. Only Enzo Fernandez, Virgil van Dijk and Erling Haaland earn more than him.

United signed three midfielders ahead of the season with Youri Tielemans earning £200k-per-week, Andrey Santos taking home a weekly salary of £75k and Carlos Baleba reportedly earning £90,000.

Man Utd forward salaries

The joint-highest earner in Carrick's squad this season is the returning Marcus Rashford. It looked as though the winger was going to depart Old Trafford permanently before a ball was kicked in 2026/27. However, when Barcelona preferred a move for Anthony Gordon instead, his dream of returning to the Camp Nou was ruled out.

Now back at United, he takes home a mammoth £300k-a-week, which is £100k clear of Benjamin Sesko. It's a whopping £150k clear of Bryan Mbeumo too.
