The 2027 Honda CRF450R is Honda’s biggest CRF450 overhaul in years, with major changes aimed at improving power delivery, handling feel and overall rider comfort on rough modern-day tracks. Developed alongside Honda’s factory HRC race teams, the new CRF450R gets a massive list of updates including a lighter chassis, revised geometry, slimmer ergonomics and completely redesigned bodywork inspired by the works Honda HRC Petronas MXGP machines. Honda claims the new bike is 9.9 pounds lighter overall, while updated rider positioning, a larger titanium fuel tank and refined suspension package are all aimed at improving stability and reducing rider fatigue during long motos.
The biggest changes are found inside the engine. The 2027 CRF450R receives an all-new powerplant that is 6 pounds lighter, 17mm narrower and produces more power across the entire rev range, with Honda claiming a 10.3% increase in peak horsepower and a 3.7% bump in torque. The engine features revised bore and stroke dimensions, a redesigned Unicam valvetrain, steeper intake layout, larger valves and a completely new intake and exhaust system. Honda also updated the chassis with a heavily revised frame, lighter swingarm and new Showa suspension settings designed to improve front-to-rear balance and bump absorption. Add in new Dunlop MX34 tires, updated electronics and countless durability improvements, and the 2027 CRF450R shapes up as Honda’s most race-focused production motocross bike to date.
