Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayFormer UFC superstar Nate Diaz was offended by some of the promotion’s recent inductees into the UFC Hall of Fame.
Nate Diaz will make his return to Mixed Martial Arts this weekend in Los Angeles on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano undercard. Diaz hasn’t fought in MMA since his UFC finale against Tony Ferguson at UFC 279, in which he won by submission before parting ways with the promotion.
Years after UFC 279, Diaz was allegedly in talks to return to the UFC before signing with Most Valuable Promotions for his upcoming fight vs. Mike Perry. Despite the signing, Diaz could potentially explore returning to the UFC at a later date, especially if a possible trilogy against Conor McGregor is on the table.
Diaz is arguably one of the greatest UFC fighters to never win a world title. His lone UFC title fight came against Benson Henderson in December 2012, a fight in which he lost by unanimous decision.
Diaz could potentially enter the UFC Hall of Fame at some point in his life. But in the meantime, Diaz is becoming increasingly aggravated with the UFC’s criteria for induction.
Nate Diaz questions UFC’s recent inductions of ‘nerds’ into Hall of Fame
In a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Diaz was asked about potentially getting a UFC HOF invite, and wasn’t exactly thrilled.
“I never wanted to be in the UFC Hall of Fame, but the more people they put in there, I’m like excuse me, I’m getting offended now,” Diaz said.
“I had the most [‘Performance of the Night’] bonuses for years, punch counts, submissions, the f***** BMF belt creator, the best division there is. I don’t want a Hall of Fame spot, but quit putting f***** nerds in there. I was here before all of you! And I’ll be here long after, still going to put stamps on s*** and make s*** happen while I’m here.
“Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here.”
Diaz isn’t the only critic of some of the UFC HOF’s recent inductees. Donald Cerrone’s induction, in particular, came under fire after Cerrone was inducted before legends like Jon Jones and Demetrious Johnson.
